2015 Big Read Kick-Off event – 11/7/15 at the Irvin L. Young Memorial Library in Whitewater, Wis. Guests enjoyed artisan demonstrations and workshops provided by Old World Wisconsin, a cooking demonstration provided by local Chef Tyler Sailsbery of The Black Sheep, Fin & Hooves and Casual Joe’s restaurants, as well as T-Shirts, books, and other promotional items giveaways.

2015 Big Read Lecture – 11/12/15; UW-Whitewater professor Susan Huss-Lederman presents “Letters from Emigrants” to guests at Fairhaven Senior Services in Whitewater, Wis.
2015 Big Read Arts Integration-Collaborative Visual Arts Project; Artist Joel Schoon Tanis worked with 4K students from the UW-Whitewater Children’s Center, juniors at Parker High School in Janesville, Wis., and seniors at Fairhaven Senior Services in Whitewater to develop art pieces that reflect various themes from this year’s book selection, focusing on “personal journeys.”
2015 Big Read Finale Event – 12/4/15; The collaborative visual arts project was unveiled to the public by community participants and artist Joel Schoon Tanis. Guests were also provided with entertainment, refreshments, and Big Read books and giveaways.
The 4K class created this story and individual paintings of warm and cool colors. Artist Joel Schoon Tanis developed the short storybook from their work together.
